Daily Gospel (Mt 23, 13-22): At that time Jesus said, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, men who shut up the Kingdom of Heaven! You certainly do not enter in; and those who are coming do not you let them in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice the son of doom to you! Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'If one swears by the temple, it is nothing; but if he swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound! 'blind fools! What is more important, the gold or the sanctuary that makes the gold sacred? And also: 'If one swears by the altar, it is nothing; but if he swears by the gift that is upon it, he is bound '. You blind men! What is more important, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? Whoever swears thus by the altar, swears by it and by everything that is about it. Who swears by the temple swears by it and by him that inhabits it. And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him that sitteth thereon. "
